WARM Program

For most of us, tales of cold winter nights conjure warm memories of grabbing a sweater, turning up the thermostat and curling up in front of a cozy fire place. However bone chilling temperatures can create a harsh reality for many whose budgets don’t stretch far enough to pay for heating bills.  This winter season will be challenging. To help those in need, the Town Council has established a “Neighbors Keeping Neighbors Warm” assistance program.

This program will provide for our customers to contribute funds to those who need temporary help paying their electric bills.  The program is supported by voluntary donations from our utility customers.   The funds will help to pay electric bills for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and other people in crisis.  Recipients of the funds will be screened by Chowan County Emergency Aid, the ecumenical faith-based non-profit organization that provides temporary emergency assistance to those in our community who are in need.  The “Neighbors Keeping Neighbors Warm” program will offer assistance of up to $100.00 per eligible household during the heating season, from November through March.

Town of Edenton utility customers can arrange for monthly tax-deductible donations of any denomination to be added to their Town of Edenton utility bill year-round or make one lump sum donation.  Checks should be made payable to the Town of Edenton Utilities noting that it is for the "Neighbor to Neighbor Warm" program on the check.

Customers can sign up for the program in one of three ways:

            1.        Print out the form, complete it with your information, and mail it in or drop it off at

                       Edenton Town Hall.

            2.        In person, come into Town Hall and sign up to make a donation.

            3.        You can send in the form via fax at 252-482-7377 or email to

As a local utility, we are part of this community and pride ourselves on being a good neighbor.  We feel that this program will provide the means to meet a real need.  Edenton and Chowan County have some of the most generous people around and we know that you don’t want your neighbors to be left out in the cold this winter.  Thank you for considering my contribution.  Your neighbors are grateful for your help.  On behalf of the Mayor and members of the Town Council and those you will assist this winter, thank you.
