Golf Cart Registration

Rows of golf carts

Golf carts are a common sight in Edenton these days. Town Council passed an ordinance in 2012 allowing golf carts to be operated on residential streets in town, as long as the street had a speed limit of 35 MPH or less.

Four streets at 35 MPH or less are restricted for golf cart use, they are as follows:

  • Broad Street north of Queen Street (U.S. 17 Business/N.C. 32)
  • West Queen Street (U.S. 17 Business)
  • Virginia Road (N.C. 32)
  • East Church Street (N.C. 32)

To operate your golf cart in town, please make sure you complete our registration form and inspection form, and read and agree to the rules attached to the form. This can all be found in the file linked just below.

Please return golf cart registration forms to Captain Brown at the police department during the hours of 9 AM to 11 AM and 1 PM to 3 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The police department is located at 301 N Oakum Street. For questions, call Captain Brown at (252) 482-5144, extension 105.
