Hayes, the expansive manor and farm just across Queen Anne Creek from Edenton, is a gem of historical riches. From learning the history and struggles of enslaved peoples amidst plantation culture to the prominent figures buried on the property to the old railroad bed leaving a picturesque trail along Edenton Bay, there will soon be much to do and learn about at Hayes.
Hayes is currently owned by the State of North Carolina, and is maintained by the Elizabeth Vann Moore Foundation with assistance from the Edenton Historical Commission and the Town of Edenton. More updates will be shared by the EVM Foundation.
