Vacant, Fire Chief

The Town of Edenton Fire Department is a combination department that has both paid and volunteer firefighters. There are currently 34 members total on the roster, with eight serving as paid employees. The department covers both municipal and county areas, providing fire protection rated by the North Carolina Fire Marshal’s office as a 5/9E ISO rating. Annual call volume averages 300 calls per year.


The mission of the department is “To protect the citizens and visitors of Edenton from fire and hazardous conditions though education, prevention, and fire suppression with Honor, Dedication and Pride.”


The Fire Department issues burn permits for the North Carolina Forestry Service from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday.
